I like my 8bitdo Ultimate controller. Do we have confirmation about controllers like this working on Switch 2?
I don't want to have to spend more money than I have to at the launch of Switch 2. That new controller sounds like its a tank, but another $85 on top is a no thanks right now. Granted I now the Switch 1 pro works from my understanding. So I do have backup plans if my 8bit does not work....
@Elitepatriot I have the M30 and SF30, love them. If the Switch Pro connects without needing to do an update through the Switch 2 first, I imagine the 8bitdo pads will just need to be synced. Otherwise, we might need to hope 8bitdo release a firmware update. I think these can be done by connecting the controller to a PC. I'm confident we won't need to do that though.
I have a Pro that's only a year or so old. With that, my 8bitdo pads and the new improved Joy-con, that'll just have to do me for the first few months. I want to buy a few games first. The Pro 2 is a luxury item for further down the line.
That's the plan anyway but I might struggle to resist it.
I believe as a general rule if a controller worked with Switch 1 it will work with Switch 2. Joy-cons and Pro controllers all function, it has been confirmed the Hori RAP arcade stick will work.
Nintendo has not changed their unique bluetooth standard with Switch 2, an example of that happening was from Xbox 360 to Xbox One, Microsoft changed the standard and it meant those controllers did not work. But Xbox One controllers work on Xbox Series consoles.

@SwitchplayerJohn First of all they haven't told the consumer what version of BT they are using and how what it can and can't do. We need to stop assuming hardware specs until it make it out on June 5 then we will know about it. And we will know then what controllers work or if updates are needed for controllers to work with Switch 2.

They have confirmed Joy-Cons and Pro controllers will work and Capcom confirmed third party Hori fight sticks will work.
