Yep! You heard that right.
FromSoftware's epic is on its way, via a 30fps port, to Nintendo's all-new console. Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition collects together the base game with the expanded Shadow of the Erdtree DLC in one package.
For those who still haven't touched this one, Elden Ring takes all of FromSoftware's Soulslike sexiness and dials it up to 11. There's a massive open world of multiple levels, there are huge disturbing bosses, there are hard-as-nails combat encounters — and that's not even mentioning our beloved little goat/horse, Torrent, that you get to ride around on.
It was an excellent game back in 2022, and we're excited to dive into it all over again later this year. Here's the official blurb and a handful of screenshots to whet your appetite:
Rise, Tarnished. The critically acclaimed dark-fantasy action RPG ELDEN RING: Tarnished Edition is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 this year – including the base game, the Shadow of the Erdtree Expansion, new armour, and a new Torrent appearance customisation feature.
What we can see in the trailer shows a game that looks exactly as we remember, but details are light on the ground, so stick with us as we update this story...

Just give me the whole game on the Switch 2 cartridge and I will throw money at the screen until it is delivered to me
Haven't played it yet but heard good things. This might be my ticket. I do have a PS4, but have never used it... so...
Which reminds me, my kids got a CD stuck in it. Maybe I should fix that for them.
Very, very interested!!!
Maybe that's the encoding quality, but graphically this looks quite blurry? I've played it on my PS4 pro, which is the previous gen, and to me it looked way better there.
Bloodborne spiritual successor is exclusively for Switch 2 lol.
Playstation fanboys must be upset.
"Tarnished" is a strange subtitle for this. Bit of a negative connotation
Health/financial limitations prevented me from getting a PC good enough for this one. But I can probably manage a Switch 2. So I'm very glad to see this being brought over. I really wanted to check it out.
Guess I'll finally get Elden Ring now
Excellent. A whole new generation of players can head straight to the castle and get their heads smashed in by Margit The Fell.
Jokes aside, even though I've already played it to death I'll be buying Elden Ring again, playing it on the go and with potentially new content will be worth it.
@thenikdavies Short version, it makes sense in the context of the game. I'll spare you any nerdy explaining.
Like Nier Automata, this may possible have framerate issues to make it possible to run. Jokes are thrown that Tarnished Edition seems to be an apt description but we shall wait and see. If it happens to be decent then maybe I'll give it a check.
@thenikdavies The jokes are already being made, I can feel it. In any case, if it is somewhat decent then that's okay I guess but I do hope that it doesn't go Witcher 3.
Already have it on PC with 400+ hours into it. Amazing game and I will gladly double dip as long as there are no frame rate issues
This is probably the biggest headline bombshell for the wider gaming audience. I think this has more potential to standout than Cyberpunk 2077 on S2 for most of the gaming population.
Sadly, unless it's a very heavily YouTube compressed video... this doesn't looks even close to Elden Ring on my PS4 Pro.
Those trees on the footage looks not that good. Looks like that SW2 may inherit SW's tree problems.
We'll see when a new video of ER running on SW2 surfaces, if it's because of YouTube's compression or not.
ER is pretty decently good but very overrated filled of problems. It's not even close to Bloodborne, and that SW2 will get an own Bloodborne on next year.
Tarnished Edition is a strange name.
Is it 30fps on PS4 and PS4 Pro?
My most anticipated game on the console. I'm very excited about it, but not gonna lie, it was overshadowed by the other Fromsoftware reveal.
Really glad to see these, of course I would had prefer Sekiro over this but nice that Elden Ring is finally available for a wide range of audience to try.
Love to see it, happy for those interested in playing this now that it's finally coming to a Nintendo system (potentially me included although it's not a priority for me)!
It looks worse than the PS4 version. Nintendo, what are you doing?
This is the perfect game and yes I will buy it again.
@OorWullie Yes, 60 fps was for the PS5 only.
İ have not played Elden Ring but now it is my chance to play it on the Nintendo Switch 2. İ am still not sure if İ will pick this game or not. There are so many games now on the Nintendo Switch 2 like Mario Kart World, new Donkey Kong game, new Hyrule Warriors game and lot more İ am not sure if İ can get time for it.
Impressive. Will play.
The first third-party port for Switch 2 is a strong contender.
I know many played this game before, but this will likely be the best (and most accessible) portable version, especially if the install base rises high.
I still have to know about the launch lineup, I'll comment about it on such article.
It'll definitely run a 30fps. Considering not even the PS5 and Xbox Series X can run at a stable 60fps, and the last-gen versions had unlocked frame-rate for some reason... At least this one will be stable, hopefully.
Unlocking the frame-rate would provide a nice benchmark though.
when this was revealed that when I knew nintendo meant business!
I might finally play this game now. Nintendo knew what they were doing with this as the first third party reveal
I've wanted to play Elden Ring ever since it released. Excited it'll come to a Nintendo platform
30 fps is a downgrade for me, but to have a physical version of the game, plus making other character builds (I have the game on Steam), I'm willing to get this anyway.
