Final Fantasy VII Remake: Intergrade Is Making The Leap To Switch 2

Already bought and played, no big news for me.
BUUUT, if the third and last instalment is released here in parallel to the PS version and at the same time, then count me in as I prefer these ~JRPGs on Handheld

Honestly really cool. Definitely gonna keep my eyes on this.

Wonder if we will finally get the FF13 trilogy now and a full port of FF15 and 14 while they are at it

Bravely Default is, per SE's announcement, available at Switch 2 launch. No date on FF7R. I've been holding off on playing this for a long time, can't wait!

Hell yes. I've been wanting this.

Here i sit with Intergrade on my PS5 that I've barely touched. Anyone else feel like they just can't muster the available time to play all these games? Being an over 40 year old gamer kinda sucks. It's fun when you can get the time.

Hope i live to be 90 so i can finish them all.

FF7R2 and Intergrade were the only things making me want a PS5 (want physical copies).
This news means I probably won't have to get a PS5 at all now. All comes down to whether FF7R2 and FF7R3 come to Switch 2.

@Truegamer79 Same here. The majority of these annoucements are games I already have on PS5 and barely had time to play them. First world gamer problems.

Have already played through this game mutliple times but I'll gladly play through it again on Switch 2

I would be shocked if the cart had the entire game on it - but if it does, and it plays decently - I can see myself picking up another version of FFVII:Remake, sure.

But between this and Cyberpunk, it's very clearly a way for devs to quickly re-release something that's half a decade old because it's new on Nintendo. Hardly the kind of release that gets my multi-console-owning-butt excited.

yeah does make me curious about the third game (and also rebirth) since having the full trilogy on a dedicated handheld console would be awesome.

With the first part of remake it wont take too long to finish but i can see rebirth taking an extremely long time to finish especially if going for everything since the scope is so much bigger, thats not even getting into the third game.

though for me i didnt regret my time with them (as frustrating as trying to 100% explore the gongaga region was)

for me i do find it easier to focus for longer periods of time on a handheld at least, its one of the reasons i held out on re:fantazio since it feels like a switch 2 release down the line would be a safe bet.

Getting this day 1 for the Switch. I really wanted to play FF7R on the go and this will be the best way for me to do so.

The FFVII remake just lost its exclusivity, but the PS5 versions will still be the best living room experience probably, so this at least could count as its best handheld form. Funnily enough, I remember back before the Switch 1 presentation this game was rumoured for it

Why not give us both games, why only the first half Square?

@Zenszulu I mean the hardware definitely isn't holding them back anymore. The only Final Fantasy game that I think would have a hard time on Switch 2 is 15. but even that could possible get on it if running at a lower frame rate and being upscaled with DLSS targeting 30 fps. Who knows..

FFVIIRemake is alright but Rebirth is the main event. It adds so much to the combat and the pacing is better since the sidequests don't disappear when the story moves on. And Queen's Blood! It's not a perfect game and it's a bit bloated and formulaic, but it was a great time for me and way better than Intergrade. Anyway, hopefully that will get a release too eventually.

@DaniPooo 15 was so poorly optimised to begin with I wouldn't expect miracles with it even playing it on PS5 and Series X had mixed results. If it had a 4K version capped at 30fps I wouldn't be too mad.

Incredible game - but this being on Switch 2 also serves my argument about how *****y it was when Square decided to make the Intergrade part PS5 only when the PS4 could clearly handle it as per the base game experience.

This is the biggest surprise for me. Expected we'd get a port in like 10 years the same way we're getting ports of PS3 games now. Excited to get to play it not long after it's "new" since I don't own anything other than a Switch. Hope the last part comes out on Switch 2 at the same time.

Also, they have 60fps modes. (Which sucks I know, but they are there)

And given that the Switch 2 is more powerful than the steam deck and the steam deck seems to handle 16 around 25-30fps I would say that it's not impossible.

Nintendo ruin this part for me. This came at exactly when the stream got laggy. The trailer itself is impressive, may get the game once I get words that FFVII Rebirth is also coming. Not gonna bother buying if we aren't getting Rebirth too. Missing stuff is what I don't like.

FF15 is like a decade old, I'm sure Switch 2 could pull t off. Did you mean FF16? That game was rocking and would really push the Switch 2 if it could run it.

Just a reminder for those of you out of the loop.

FF7 R was a PS4 game that added Intergrade dlc on the PS5. It's a very small world claustrophobic little game.

FF7 Rebirth (the 2nd part) was a PS5 nearly open world game that needed the $699 PS5 Pro to really look and run great. We played it on PS5 and we thought it was fine but a lot of people didn't.

So it's probably fairly easy for them to get part 1 running on Switch 2 but part 2 is going to need some work.

I think that will be the case for a lot of "this gen" games. But thankfully for future Switch 2 owners there currently don't seem to be all that many.

@eltomo most likely will and before a Xbox version for sure. I've been the same, I was closed to getting a ps5 this year but now all I need is silent hill remake to come to switch and I'm set

@rjejr ff7 remake kinda struggled on my Ryzen 5 laptop at certain points. Honestly I believe switch will handle these games. With the upscaling technology the CPU has in DLSS, they could even lower the resolution and still make it look decent enough to run

Given that the Steam Deck almost runs the game at 30fps and the Switch 2 is both more powerful and also has DLSS I wouldn't rule the possibility out completely

@DaniPooo I am not doubting it is powerful enough but it is more to do with the game itself being such a mess. 16 which I completely forgot about would probably cope about the same since the base PS5 version struggles itself at 4K30.

But as far as 15 goes even with upscaling it has proven to be a bit of a mixed bag for framerates going up to 60. Although it seems you got the two confused.

@anoyonmus At this point there's no reason for Xbox to even exist. Microsoft would make more money just releasing games now for other platforms and put GamePass on everything.

@Zenszulu hmm I dunno if I would say that it struggles at 4k30. I play through the game many times and I am quite happy with the performance at 4k30.

However if you are talking about smaller frame drops and some uneven frame-pasing. Yeah it's there and it's kind of standard for modern games, it kind-of has more to do with a flawed game engine than the performance of the system.

Like how Monster Hunter Wilds ran like ass on high-end PC's and ran almost better on game consoles

And if you followed my statements, you should know that I said that 16 might be a problem, but might not be impossible.
And I base that on the fact that it's more powerful than a system that plays the game (but plays it with some hiccups).

I say that if we are targeting 30fps and can accept some drops here and there then yes it could be coming to the Switch 2.
But probably not at native 4k. It would be more likely 720p upscaled to 1440p using DLSS or something along those lines

@DaniPooo well I wasn't even talking about 16 which is why you seem to have got what I was saying about 15 muddled up with it. But I think both could be done targeting 4K30 and I actually think 16 would have an easier time than 15 unless they do a good job optimising the port. If 16 does ever get ported id it's close to the PS5 version then it will be very much a win but even then I would expect in a 1080p mode it would perform way better than on the Steam Deck because that is what people should be comparing it too.

I thought this was an interquel between Remake and Rebirth and would have been more excited at the announcement if I had known better.

@Zenszulu Well I think 15 have no problem running on the Switch 2. no problem at all, it might even hit 60fps if DLSS is used

@DaniPooo it's not so much about the graphic settings the game is more more a struggle on cpus than anything that's why I made the comment about it still struggling on PS5 and Series X since the game was poorly optimised to begin with. So it hitting 4K60 on Switch 2 would be optimistic even with any kind of upscaling unless the original resolution is very low.

@Thomystic nah Integrade is just the PS5/next gen upgrade version. It has the Yuffie DLC that takes place during Remake..

we have to see side by side comparisons of the switch 2 and ps5 versions to make a accurate judgement.

@Zenszulu Who told you that FFXV is CPU bottlenecked?
The game is not a PS5 title, it runs through the PS4 compatibility on the PS5. I imagine the Xbox version is a similar story.

Whenever you run something through a backwards compatibility mode you are restricted to certain clock speeds and such.

This is to ensure that games don't break. Increasing clock frequencies and memory could in some cases break games in different ways such as physics for example.

And the backwards compatibility feature is a "one-size-fits-all" solution so it has to make the PS5 run like a PS4 Pro to ensure optimal compatibility.

It's not fair to judge how a PS4 game runs on a PS5 when it's not taking advantage of the PS5 hardware.

If the Switch 2 runs close to(or slightly better) than the PS4 Pro then I would say 4K (upscaled from 1080p using DLSS) @60FPS is very possible.
Because I can get 1080p 60fps out of the PS4 Pro in this game.

I don't know why so many people underestimate the Switch 2, Is it because you don't wanna get disappointed?

I promise you that the Switch 2 is powerful enough to run Final Fantasy 15 at 60fps and that it's not going to be CPU bottlenecked, there's barely any demanding physics in the game, or water simulations, or sophisticated AI npc's or dynamic weather simulations or anything else that would make the CPU sweat.

What's the difference between Remake and Rebirth?

Was more highly anticipating a KHIII announcement, since I grew up with KH rather than the early console FF's (grew up with handheld FF's). And even though I'm happy for FF7R to be announced and supported for Switch 2, I'm disappointed that Square Enix is apparently staggering their Switch 2 launch cycle. I'll probably have to wait over a year to get my hands on KHIII on Switch 2 at this point.
