I feel that NL is getting some flack here that they don't deserve. Everyone who writes for this site loves games, and they have incredible integrity in their dedication to readers. I've never gotten the impression that they've lied in game reviews to keep getting handouts. NL does have plenty of click bait, but that's the reality of operating a free website. I really don't blame them for it. The tariff post isn't click bait though; it's legitimate news that would be irresponsible of them to not post.
@AnVold
It is democracy and it is what he was elected to do. But that doesn't make it not monumentally stupid. It can be both. Also as someone who considers themselves very slightly right of centre economically it continues confuse me that people who profess to be on the "conservative" side of politics is somehow suddenly enamoured with increasing taxes. Completely mental
Its almost like they never actually had any political principles at all!
It's easy enough to understand what Trump's end goal is which is to make America a more isolated country. As you can tell from a few of the iffy dog whistle rhetoric in the thread the average murican aren't worldly or care about the rest of the world so American first is something that very much appeals to his base even if they aren't aware the direct and indirect benefits of globalisation like playing silly games about porky plumbers, pocket sized creatures and elves dangerously going it alone.
TL:DR Reporting tariffs on games isn't woke click bait PoLiTiCaLz gen z nonsense, it is the symptom of a larger thing that is actually affecting gamers.
Something noone has mentioned is how this is going to affect scalpers. I mean, if you know a price rise is coming, you'll want to be snapping them up asap. And then wait a while for the price to go up and increase them even further. Everything Nintendo have done to deter scalping by stock piling consoles could effectively make them hungrier...
Why Donald Trump really want to ruin the world with tariffs?
I actually watched a video on this recently and they linked to this statement from a former Trump Cabinet member (for those not familiar with American politics, the Cabinet is basically a group of advisors to the president that help run certain aspects of the country such as economics, military, diplomacy, etc.) on why he likes tariffs so much:
The gist of what the Cabinet member is saying is that Trump likes tariffs because he can use it to wield economic power. He basically wants to use tariffs to force other countries to bend the knee to him economically.
What those of you not familiar with Trump might not know about him is, he's EXTREMELY narcissistic. Trump wants money and power and tons of adoring supporters. That's the beginning and end of Trump's character. He has no real values or guiding principles, he just wants power and influence. That defines what he does and doesn't do and who his allies and enemies are. There is HIGH potential for him to become a dictator here, this is a 5 alarm fire for American and possibly even world politics. Heck I wouldn't be surprised if Trump ends up being the cause of WWIII. Expect the worst from him. He doesn't care if the world burns as long as he's the one ruling it.

It's not that they don't want increased taxes, they don't want increased taxes on the WEALTHY. If they have an opportunity to raise taxes on the lower classes so the rich can profit more, they'll take it.

No, that's not what America First is about. He has no issues involving America with other countries... if America is the dominant partner in that relationship. What America First is coming from is people that are seeing a rise in racial minorities that they perceive to be foreigners (which may or may not actually be) and stagnant/decreasing wages and increasing costs and assuming that they're correlated when they really aren't. Trump and some of the other more supremacist elements in this country have been seizing on that to make the country, and even the world, more hierarchical with them at the top. They want everyone who's not like them to be second class citizens.
@Bolt_Strike
100% on the tax cuts for the wealthy while levying taxes that disproportionately impact the poor. Has been the case for a while to be fair but increasingly they've just stopped pretending it's about smaller government. It never was, but they've given up on the dance
@AnVold He won this time so I with no push back. So a) I don't see how democracy was under threat else Biden would still be in power and b) which side actually can't abide by it?
Interesting how people see things differently.
Maybe you'll realise what's going on when he does run for a third term (though he'll get a crony to run and have him step down so he can occupy presidency again. That's what Putin did. He seems to like him.)
@Anti-Matter Think of all the shares billionaires can snap up while they are at such a low point. Wouldn't put it past him to be inside trading to be blunt.
I never drive faster than I can see. Besides, it's all in the reflexes.
@skywake I see, so you were being sarcastic, couldn't tell. Usually people who identify themselves as right-leaning (or even right of center in your case) don't display this level of awareness.
@AnVold Ah yes, he "protected democracy" by attempting to overturn a legitimate election based on evidence that was flimsy at best, that sure is protecting democracy and not a coup attempt because he's salty he lost. There were government officials in various states that tried to find evidence to support Trump's claims, they couldn't. In fact they found more corruption from the Republicans than the Democrats. They also have Trump on record as trying to find whatever votes he could to win, legal or not. There was nothing democratic about Trump's actions, he wants to destroy democracy.
@GrailUK I don’t see a problem if a good politican want to run for a third term, if he do it in legal way. Trump is a smart businessman and a good pupil of Vladimir Putin. If Putin likes him, then he has my respect too. And not just a Putin respect him. Victor Orban, Robert Fico and other progressive politicians and peacemakers around the World respect him too.
@Bolt_Strike how Trump wants to destroy democracy if he won democratic elections in most democratic country in whole World? I can’t understand it.

1. He wants to win by any means necessary, whether legal or not.
2. He has directly stated in his own words that he wants to be a dictator.
3. He is trying to solidify power behind the executive branch and eliminate checks and balances.
Also regarding that third term conversation, the Constitution specifically forbids more than two terms. There is NO legal way to run for a third term in this country and he is trying to skirt the Constitutional law, that is the issue. Also IDK what reality you're living in where progressive politicians respect him. The only respect he has is from other dictators. Putin, Xi, Kim Jong Un, Netanyahu, and Orban are not good company to be in, in fact they're literally the worst company to be in as they're some of the least democratic leaders on the planet right now. Never hear of Fico, but a quick Google search shows that he's anti-Ukraine and pro-Russia so he's not exactly a positive either.
