Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has received a new trailer during the latest Nintendo Direct, but there's sadly no confirmed release date at the time of writing.

Our prediction..? We'll get one next week when it's revealed to be a cross-gen game with Switch 2. Here's hoping, anyway..!

Still, it's an awesome trailer. In it, we get our first in-depth look at the planet of Viewros, a mysterious land that Samus finds herself trapped on. Naturally, there's a bunch of nasty-looking creatures lurking in the jungles, ready to be shot/scanned as we would hope to see in any Prime game.

But this isn't all stuff we've seen before, oh no! The trailer also reveals Samus' new psychic abilities, which allow her to interact with the environment in a totally-not-related-to-Ultrahand kind of way. The powers look great for puzzle solving, but there's also a fun combat edge to them where you'll be able to control the trajectory of Samus' beams after they've left her blaster. Now come on, that's cool.

You can get a closer look at all of this newness in the following fresh screenshots:

As we say, there's still no release date for this one just yet, though our fingers are crossed that the upcoming deluge of Switch 2 news might bring something Prime-related our way.
