For the past three decades Nintendo's Metroid saga has given players the chance to explore a vast science fiction universe filled with lore, wonders and hazards from the perspective of the one and only Samus Aran, the galaxy's greatest bounty hunter. As such, it's easy to forget that all her struggles form but a small part of a huge,...

Feature A Long Journey Through Metroid Prime: Federation Force
"Charge!"
Right now Nintendo is building the hype for Metroid: Samus Returns, but it's not been that long since our last game from the IP graced the 3DS. Metroid Prime: Federation Force was divisive (to put it mildly), and is now one year old. Amusingly, our editor Tom Whitehead and reviewer extraordinaire Conor McMahon only recently finished a...
News Metroid Prime: Federation Force Version 1.1 is Now Live
Primarily fixes issues with Blast Ball
Metroid Prime: Federation Force has been out for a few weeks now, offering fans a unique – albeit divisive – take on the world of Metroid Prime. News Metroid Prime: Federation Force Flops on UK Debut
A long way off the top 40
Recently we reported on Metroid Prime: Federation Force enduring a poor launch in Japan, missing the country's top 20. Unfortunately, today's Chart-Track UK charts don't bring any better news. The Next Level Games-developed title is absent from the all- and single-format top 40 charts for the country, and the picture is...
News Metroid Prime: Federation Force Power Bombs in Japan
A grim outcome for the spin-off
Metroid Prime: Federation Force arrived in North America first and is due in Europe this week, but it made its debut in Japan on 25th August. As a result we can see how it's performed in the Media Create chart results; the outcome is not good. Metroid isn't always a huge-seller in Japan; for example Metroid: Other M...

Hands On Squashing Space Pirates in Metroid Prime: Federation Force
Insane in the Mother Brain
It's safe to say the general - or at least loudest - response from Metroid fans upon the reveal of Metroid Prime: Federation Force was one of disappointment. One year on and things have calmed down a little bit, but is there enough in this game to sway those who spoke so strongly against it at E3 2015? First and foremost...
Tom and Anthony scratch their heads at Nintendo's Prime demo

This is what Nintendo want, nobody will buy this garbage and then they can say "see nobody wants new Metroid games"
Lol! No one wants this! They want a real Metroid!
Looks like half-*ssed filler.
I will reserve judgment on this game until I see a detailed description.
If it has a proper single-player campaign with levels that are designed for exploration then I will be happy. That would make it a proper Metroid Prime game. However, if the single player consists of a progression through multi-player arenas with the computer controlling the opponents and a story that is just tacked on, then I will stay well away from it.
Meh!
like many people, I felt a bit punched in the gut when this was revealed. Not the Metroid I was asking for. Yet the more I watch the videos the more I'm looking forward to it. In fact I think it looks pretty fun.

Why does it look soooooo bad? MH3U and Majora's Mask prove the 3DS can push out nice looking games.
I loved MPH, so color me interested
Though the graphics are terrible, because I know the 3DS can do much better, cough Mario 3D Land and MM 3D, I am still honestly hyped for this game because while it doesn't look like a Metroid game, and doesn't feel like a Metroid game, it still looks fun and lets me put plenty of hours into it.

cannot wait
As i dont know how to tip off the N-Life Staf im just going to leave this here..

after seeing this and the other new stuff for MP FF im allot happyer with it personly
I think the 3DS needs some graphical sacrifices to pull off 4-player multiplayer, and while I'm not a fan of the art direction either, it looks pretty similar to Metroid Prime Hunters. I always felt Prime Hunters would be better served with co-op dungeon crawling than frag-fest multiplayer, so hopefully this is a way to design adventures and boss battles that require coordination (the ideal would be inspired by Portal 2 - puzzles designed for co-op with a real partner).
this game has more hate than other m, and other m isnt that bad of a game, it is flawed but otherwise a fun game.
@chiptoon yup
I buy most first party games from N on launch day. I'm gonna wait on this one till it's the right price.
I am playing it the now, its a fun MP game, if you miss it that's up to you, but cannot see how they could have done better on 3DS.
dont know where all the hate is coming from for the game. This game is pretty fun campaign and blast ball is amazing!!!!
Yep, haters can stuff it. This game is awesome.
The chibi look was a huge mistake, especially when the western audience fell in love with Prime and rejected Other M. It was already going to be challenged because you don't play Samus (though she is involved quite a bit) but then making it look sort of cutesy after so much pent up demand and hope for something on Wii U. The graphics are actually quite good with lots of interesting environments but it is colorful and clear for gameplay which doesn't translate well to advertising either. It was a perfect storm.
Fortunately, if you don't have to eat the sad poison of reactionary simple-minded hater sheep and you can play a really fun game. Especially recommended if you have 1 or two people you can play with locally.
Once you are in the mech you don't have to think about the chibi bobblehead people and everything is terrifying, honestly. If you play alone or with just one partner it is a pretty brutal and challenging game at times. You can always play online to fill your numbers and people can't yell racist bigoted obscenities at you — which some people call a downside. Useful communication happens by pinging the map and choosing from 4 customizable phrases and is a pretty good substitute — better than Splatoon that way.
Anyway, I could go on and on but there are positive reviews by honest people who weren't afraid of all the hate that would rain down on them if they reviewed it positive... or maybe they were just affected themselves by the storm. Whatever.
If you like the Metroid Prime universe and are up for some co-op mission based play, and you are accustomed to the cramped nature of the 3DS, you really shouldn't let this one pass. It's a gem.
