It feels sorta like people are over-reacting to the Joycon 2 not having Hall-effect. Even without it, I'm sure it doesn't mean that the Switch 2 is stuck with drift like the Switch 1. Nintendo has confirmed they basically reconstructed the internals of the thing outright- and they possibly came up with their own solution for stick drift. Heck, the later models of Switch 1 didn't have as many issues with drift as the earlier joycons did.
I would wait and see when the console comes out before jumping to conclusions about the stick drift.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
Drift cost Nintendo millions of dollars in replacements, parts, labor and shipping for repairs. Not to mention the brand damage. Anyone who thinks that wasn't a top priority designing Switch 2 simply hasn't thought it through.
They even considered per game configurations, mouse sensitivities on a system level, eliminating eShop lag, rear buttons and VRR. I'm pretty sure they considered the NUMBER ONE ISSUE with Switch, ya know?
They've always been coy about discussing drift. When they say "we redesigned the joycon ground up with durability in mind", and we see it's using new sticks (HALL Effect or not), that's their way of saying "OF COURSE we addressed drift- our boss would have fired us if we didn't"

Did any UK peeps get the invitation from Nintendo to pre-order? I followed the link, entered my email and then it says they sent me a verification code but that was 10mins ago with nothing being inbox/spam folder.
@jump My son got his earlier today and got his preorder done without issue. Said he went into a queue and he was only 5th - he was expecting Oasis/Ticketmaster levels of queuing, but said it was a pretty short wait.
Too early to tell. A few hours ago the previous tariff of 46% on Taiwan was reduced to 32%. But as a result Trump has threatened an increase of the tariff imposed on China by 50%. One step forward, two steps back.
One positive note is that Nintendo haven't changed the planned May 8th start date for My Store invitations. Figure Nintendo have millions of Switch 2 consoles in storage in North America for those orders.
Will the price be finalized between now and then? I have no clue.

Try the Junk folder if it's not in the Inbox or Spam folder. I had an Amazon UK invite go to my junk folder (telling me I wasn't fast enough unfortunately, though importing was just a safety net plan).
@-Green-
Unless something drastic changes with China/Vietnam I expect preorders to be postponed as long as possible as they hold out for news of change in the situation. If no deals are made, I do somewhat expect a price increase. Like, $499 base price and $549 for the Mario Kart bundle.
On the one hand, I think they know a price increase would be detrimental, but on the other hand, a 46% Vietnam tariff and 104% China tariff (they retaliated with 50% more against US, so US just added another 50% in return as I understand it- we've officially entered a trade war imo- NOT GOOD) makes it virtually impossible for Nintendo to absorb all of it.
Now. I have been pondering possible solutions. And one may be restructuring the manufacturing, packaging and transit workflow. Perhaps shipping US units to the UK for some final packaging step (even if it's slapping a sticker on the box), then exporting from the UK to the US since they've reached a deal (I think? Its so hard to stay informed nowadays without being mislead by misinformation). That could be one way to skirt tariffs. Another could be shipping back to Japan first and then exporting to the US, essentially slashing the tariff rate in half at minimum.
But I do expect Switch 2 to launch in the US June 5th. Not doing so would wreak havok with scalping and imports, destroying available stock in other countries.

I'm over the moon with Elden Ring and FF7 remake, so I don't want to get greedy, but it would be thrilling if we got P3 Reload and Metaphor. But, in the US, maybe I ought to just hope the price doesn't shoot up and leave me waiting for a year or so anyway.
@drumnbayes
Leaks revealed both Persona 3 Reloaded and Metaphor Fantazio are coming to Switch 2. There's just so many 3rd party games flooding the system I think Nintendo and 3rd parties are coordinating a more staggered, spread out release schedule to avoid cannabilizing sales from excessive software people simply can't afford to keep up with.
But they'll come at some point. Can pretty much expect all the best games from the PS4 that couldn't make the jump to Switch, to release on Switch 2 over the next 10 years.

@JaxonH Awesome news, thank you! Hype is only increasing for me with the games I mentioned along with Silksong, Hades 2, the first-party stuff. Now just to cross my US-based fingers for no price increase!
Switch 2 available for preorder on Amazon UK. I just got a preorder in as backup. If importing you'll need to buy a charger for your country separately. Keep that in mind.
canceled.

@VoidofLight
It’s absolutely overblown. It’s one of those things where nobody even knew what that term meant a couple months ago (or even its existence), but then the YouTubers started talking it up and now it’s “Hall effect” everything blah blah blah.
No you morons. The button works fine. You just won't have GameChat/ScreenShare functionality if you're not an NSO member, since that's a feature included with the subscription. The BUTTON is irrelevant. It's just an easy way to access said functionality.
But phrasing it as "the button" you're paying for makes it sound ridiculous so that's what people run with. And they know what they're doing. It's intentional. The goal is to get people riled up and profit from the views. Or in the case of fanboys, make the system look as bad as possible by misleading those who may not be following the details that closely and are more susceptible to guile.
Anyways, check this Yakuza 0 PS5-NSW2 comparison. Reports say NSW2 version is 4k 60fps in cutscenes but 1080p 60fps in gameplay? Not confirmed but that was from Digital Foundry's pixel counting.

Random thought, but I hope that the addition of GameCube NSO doesn't mean that Nintendo takes a 6+ month hiatus from adding GBA and N64 titles while they dripfeed the road map of GameCube titles shown in the Direct. There's still several 1st party GBA titles missing from the lineup
I have a theory they intentionally kept a few bangers to release in the Switch 2 era. Those Gameboy Advance titles should hit the service after Switch 2 launches. When Idk, but I expect them to come.
What to play, what to play... Xenoblade X chapter 6? So close to skell license... Splatoon 3 Salmon Run? Paper Mario TTYD... DKC Returns HD perhaps? Decisions decisions

Well, I'm gonna be £563 lighter. Thanks Nintendo. At least I'll have plenty to play at launch with knowledge there is more to come. Around the same price I paid for my PS5 at launch and that thing is a great ornament.
I'm jumping between XCX and Croc right now. My favourite game ever, and an old game I rather like, though it's weird not having tank controls as standard.
Roll on Donkey Kong. I love me a good platformer

It's been really interesting listening to kit and Krystas podcasts lately. I've listened to a few now and they're really insightful with what's going on with switch 2, and how nintebdo is handling it. Definitely worth a listen.
@NintendoByNature
They are insightful. I’ve listened to all their stuff. I do feel like they’re dipping their toes in the manufactured outrage, but nothing too crazy yet. I hope they stay professional and balanced.
