Rhythm Heaven Groove, the latest entry in the funky rhythm game series, has been announced for Nintendo Switch, with a release coming in 2026.
It looks, well, it looks like Rhythm Heaven, so brilliant! The series started out as Rhythm Tengoku on GBA on Japan, although the DS entry was the first one to arrive in the West. In Europe it's known as Rhythm Paradise, and that trend continues for this new entry.
The new entry has TNX Music back on co-development duties alongside Nintendo. This will be the first game in the series since Rhythm Heaven Megamix on 3DS, which came out back in 2016.

Here's a look at some screenshots, although they don't really do justice to this catchy rhythm game - you're better off watching the trailer above!

VIDEO GAMES ARE BAAAAAAAAAAACK
i don't know how to put it but this looked bootleg in an odd way. reminds me of the original games included in Heaven Studio for pc in that regard
Rhythm Heaven, yeah!....... 2026.....????? What!?!?!?
Am I just out of touch or was that a really weak direct other than Sony games coming to Switch.
This announcement was a very pleasant surprise. A bit bummed that it's not out till next year though.
Removed - trolling/baiting
Hell to the yes! We are so back, baby!
The 2026 date on this and Tomodachi Life is absolutely bizarre, but I'm here for both of them
Can't imagine either will sell well haha
@IceClimbersMain I think that was always going to be the case with Nintendo putting most of their focus on the Switch 2.
I was absolutely ecstatic when I saw it...only for me to be mildly disappointed to see that its coming next year.
Whyyyyyyyy?????
Not sure why it's taking so long, but better late than never ❤️
@BenAV I mean I wasn't expecting any new games but I was thinking at least 3 GameCube/Wii/3DS ports, I woulda loved Galaxy 2...
Best announcement of the Direct by far.
Rhythm Heaven is one of my favouritest things in existence, not even kidding.
I don't even care that it's 2026, I'm just happy they're doing it at all. I can wait. We've been waiting for so long anyway.
Best announcement. Sad that it is not coming until next year, but this is the best announcement.
Sigh I'm happy to see a new Rhythm Heaven game but 2026 is still quite some time away.
I am amazed that people REALLY like such games
I am sorry but it is weird for me.
after all these years, we're finally gonna be able to beat the beat once more 💃

Never played Rhythm Heaven before myself but I know how die-hard the fanbase is for the series so to finally see a wholly new entry after so long is delightful. The 2026 release date is....bizarre but other than that it looks like a great return for the series (even if the TTS voices were a bit offputting XD).
This game looks pretty charming. I’ll definitely give it a try.
Absolutely love rhythm games, so this looks cool! I remember playing the demo for Megamix on the 3DS and enjoying it, so I definitely am curious about this one. Too bad it isn’t releasing until next year though.
I so glad Nintendo is bringing this series back at long last! Shame it’s next year but what’s the harm in waiting a little longer.
@somebread it gave me stronger WarioWare vibes if anything.
My highlight of the Direct. The previous Rhythm Paradise games are all wonderful, so hopefully this one will also be great.
Love to see a Rhythm Heaven finally coming to Switch and even more so a new one - since I've unfortunately missed the previous ones this will be my very first one and I can't wait to play it!
@N00BiSH that's what's messing with me actually, it feels way further from the Ko Takeuchi artstyle that kind of defines the series
NOT DEAD YET BAYBEEEE!
I was quite expecting this one, Nintendo loves to release these AA games when they are focusing on the successor.
I'm so bad at the game series (IMO) but love it. Great news. Kind of "about time" as well.
This and Tomodachi Life. Terrible news for the 'Nintendo always forget their dormant franchises' brigade ..
What an amazing surprise. Would never have guessed it was going be a brand new instalment. This really rounds off the switch game library very very nicely.
Hoping most of the previous mini games make it in the cafe as well. 🙏
@somebread I think that's more a result of Ko Takeuchi branching out in terms of his visual style - same with WarioWare post-Gold.
Happy for the Rhythm Heaven fans! I was thinking this would be a great time to get into the series before Switch 2 releases, but a 2026 release? Bizarre. I wonder if this means Switch 2 is out sooner than we realise, because there's not much coming soon at the moment right?
And they say Nintendo forgets dorment franchises...
Anyway, this looks amazing. I hope it ain't 60 dollars though. But it might be 60 anyway.
This was the sole highlight for me. Finally a new entry in the series!✨
I hope that awful AI voice from the trailer (OOP) won’t be heard a lot in the game!
It looks fun tho!
Glad it's coming, I'm a big fan of the series, so new entries are appreciated!
@N00BiSH They're by the same dev team, after all
It lives! It lives!
Best announcement of the Direct.
Rhythm Heaven faithful, thank you for sacrificing a goat.
I'M so excited for this! I'm actually kinda glad its releasing next year. I just started trying to get the first 3 (western) rhythm haven games recently and this'll give me time to play them all. this announcement happened IMMEDIETLY after i started getting into the series. so I'm pretty stoked
Rhythm "whatever" Megamix is one of my absolute favourite collections. Wonderfully presented, and it just keeps on going.
So much content.
So much gameplay.
...
.... This is going to be a letdown, by comparison, isn't it!?
At last. At the death of the Switch but better late than never. Hello, old friend (Rhythm Heaven series)
The only game reveal this direct that made me go, “Yeah!! 😄”
One of my favorite game series. I should have known we would see a game on the tail end of the Switch's lifecycle. That's how Rhythm Heaven operates, it closes a system with a real banger. I sure hope it ain't $60, as these games tend to be a bit more on a budget side of things (though someone correct me if I am wrong, as I thought the Wii game was $30-40, and the 3ds game was $30).
@Jayenkai Hopefully, this one leans more into new songs and characters. Megamix is wonderful, don't get me wrong, but that was more of an homage to the entire series. Which as you point out, does make it hard to top.
Seems like a Jan 2026 release
YESSSS. This is by far the best news to me out of this Direct. I cried of happiness, honestly.
Then they broke my heart with that 2026 release date. I can only assume it is an early year release. Feels like one.
@IceClimbersMain It was weak but I was pleased in a weird way as it makes me think Switch 2 will be launching soon and they'll really be shifting their focus to it. Makes me think the rumours of it not being released until October were false.
the most important Switch release of all time
So happy for a new entry it’s been a long time since Megamix, maybe another year to wait? So be it
The Direct tried to be coy with it, but I knew after the jumping in time began in the first segment that it had to be Rhythm Heaven. I've only dabbled in the series, but I'd be more than happy to dive right in this time. The music alone sold it for me.
Many, no, a lot of people wanted Rhythm Heaven back on Switch, so this is very good news for them!
What is strange is the fact it's coming out that late. I doubt a game like this would take so much development time, it's like they're planning to fill out the Switch 1's next years of lifetime. So what could coming for the last-gen on the next months from Nintendo, besides Pokémon and Metroid?
@Datasun_7 Tomodachi Life was big on the 3DS, it sold over 6.7 million copies there. It should sell even more than that on Switch.
I am surprised at the hate towards the 2026 release date, I personally am stoked Nintendo will still be supporting the OG Switch into its NINTH year!!!
As for Rhythm Heaven, I adore the series, but am terrible with the games. Reminds me that I should watch a Let’s Play of Elite Beat Agents since that is the only way I will see the end.
Games like this are why I love video games.
Great news! And the 2026 release-date probably means Switch 2 is barely a update at all and they keep making games for Switch.
I have not been this excited for a switch game in a while. RH Fever on Wii was amazing, and I can't find a copy for cheap, so this will make up for that. It's about time the series received a home-console update.
I absolutely loved Rhythm Heaven Megamix on 3DS. This is going to be good. Yes, initially I was bummed by 2026 release. But whatever—it is coming hopefully.
