Massive Entertainment's excellent Star Wars Outlaws has shown up - albeit incredibly briefly - in a sizzle reel sequence during the latest, Switch 2-focused, Nintendo Direct.
We're excited to see this one in particular make its way to the new console for several reasons. Of course, chiefly, it's just a very good game - our sister site Pure Xbox gave it an 8/10 and called it a "Super Star War", but there are more interesting aspects here, too, as it's a technical powerhouse that's given PCs and high end consoles some serious issues thus far.
If we're looking for a game to really show off what the Switch 2 can do with big-budget action adventures, especially when playing in handheld, this could be an early contender to get your mates round and collectively wow over.
Here's a look at some Switch 2 screenshots, to get you in the mood:
We will, of course, have much more news on the port as we get it. Let's just hope that the Force is strong with this one.

This is awesome! The launch wasn't too great but I got it on PS5 after they released those two huge updates that made the game great. Really enjoyed it. Looking forward to the story DLC and Switch 2 version.
Haven’t tries this game yet, but will once it hits Switch 2
Interesting.
The stream died for me during the 2nd third party segment so I missed seeing stuff like this until I could get it working again.
I’ll give this one a shot just because of how beautiful it is. I keep hoping for clarification on upgrading vs paying brand new price for hogwarts while on the topic of good looking games.
One more platform to flop on.
Will be intriguing to see how Switch 2 handles these games. There is no reason why it can’t, but the porters will have some hard work to do again.
It was a nice reveal, I'll definitely try it.
Loved this game on PS5, was much better than expected and others would have you believe!
LOL Ubisoft trying to recoup some of that loss…
@datamonkey Yep! It's excellent!
@Switch_Pro I wonder if this game is still in beta.
This game is honestly really good. Can’t speak for it at launch but I got it about 4 months ago and WOW. It’s my favorite Star Wars game since shadows of the empire on N64. It has everything and the sound is stellar! Switch 2 is going to make me sell my PS5 and just get all my games over again on Switch 2. Having the option to play them handheld is really a game changer (again.)
The worst star wars game. They should have gone with the other star wars, The jedi survivors would've been a step forward than this sorry excuse of a game.
I hope this version will be without DRM so I can finally check it out
Uhhhhhhhhh…yay?
really good game, unfairly maligned.
Yuck. Nintendo should've gotten Red Dead Redemption 2 instead.
Nice, I haven't picked this up for ps5 yet maybe I'll wait for this version (as long as the port is decent) having an open world star wars game to take on the go sounds great!
@TheExile285 I had the same issue frustrating but now it's like I'm getting little post direct bonus bits of information which is nice haha
Glad to hear from some comments here that this game got better after updates, happy for those interested in giving it a try (potentially me included although it's not a priority)!
lol skip if Ubisoft is not doing some heavy changes and refinements. As someone else said Red Dead Redemption 2 is just the superior version of this type of game and would have been the more hype announcement tbh.
If it’s giving xbox and pc troubles, I wouldn’t describe it as a “technical powerhouse”, but rather a ‘technical tyrant’. Games are meant to be played on devices - whether console or PC. If it isn’t easily running on either, then the game is the problem and needs to be brought in line with the platform.
Nah I'm good, no thanks lol
So many people judgeing books by their covers.
I'm enjoying this on PS5 so far, glad more people will get to play it.
This is definitely a game that will showcase how the Switch 2 will handle current-gen games (likely thanks to DLSS), a good one I heard. If those screenshots are truly from Switch 2, then it's definitely a good sign.
More importantly, it's one that deserves more sales, so this release will hopefully bring more players to its story.
@beltmenot That's why so many games flew under radars and the publishers neglect those games sadly. It's not just corporate greed, but also the players' faults as well.
@TimelessJubilee That's totally how it works.
I'm really looking forward to this one. I was kind of hoping for a Jedi double pack but I was pleasantly surprised that they were going for this more recent and quite ambitious one.
