Star Wars Outlaws Switch 2 Release Date Revealed At Star Wars Celebration

I hope they add tilt controls.

This game ill try when its on sales for switch 2.

I remember the Switch 1 presentation where Ubisoft showed Steep coming to Switch.

The footage looked too good then and it looks too good with Outlaws now as well.

I tried to give Outlaws the benefit of the doubt because it's Star Wars but it's just really not a good game.

Sadly wasn't a fan of it and wouldn't buy it again for Nintendo Switch 2. I love the 'Star Wars Jedi' games though and can't wait for 'Star Wars Jedi 3.'

This one was the strangest game in the entire presentation for me, I don't know why Ubisoft haven't shown off another project in place of this one.

There was plenty of room to show another FPS in the reveal, the only other FPS there was Cyberpunk and I feel if the rumors are to be believed and Rainbow Six Siege is being developed for the Switch 2, that would be the game they'd go in with. It's a competitive shooter which would directly benefit from the mouse functionality.

Instead, they showed a game that had worse than middling reception from both critics and fans, the only positive note on it is that it looks kind of incredible on the Switch 2 going off the shown footage.

If you wanted to show off an action adventure, just go with your Assassins Creed games to be safe?

I don't know, I highly doubt this is the Ubisoft game that's coming out, I'm sure there's plenty more from them, just seems like an odd showing, even stranger that they weren't even featured in the third party rep talks on the Direct to talk about their upcoming support, it was sort of just flashed in a reel later in the Direct.

@Residentsteven That's a shame, I actually finished Fallen Order and found it pretty great, it's a nice little mix of Metroidvania and Souls and action adventure with Star Wars. The sequel is better in some ways, worse in some. More exploration and more incentive to go out find things (unlockables), just with atrocious performance even on PC. I do suggest revisiting at some point, there is value in those games. I was actually hoping EA would bring them instead of sports, though I understand sports are their main push.

You will probably not find the same amount value in this game unfortunately, it's very bland and not exciting. It feels really low energy, which is really anticlimactic for a wacky Star Wars adventure. This is coming from a really massive fan of Andor, I think Andor is one of the best written shows on television, and that is a very unique experience which is very unlike Star Wars, but it has the incredible writing to back it up. Outlaws does not.

Excited to get round to this one but will probably stick to PS5 since y’know I actually have one. Cool to see Hondo.

I got it at half off and I was let down by the performance, on the base PS5. I was expecting the visuals to be one of the highlights.

One of the most boring games I have played in a while.

I'm playing through it right now and it's the best Star Wars game I ever played. The world is so nicely made and there are a lot of easter eggs around. Kay and Nix are cool main characters and the different planets feel way less repetitive than newer AC games. If you are a fan of the original trilogy, than this game is an absolute nostalgia blast. Can't recommend it enough.

@Anakin that's what I've heard about every Ubisoft game I've spent many hours on. In fact, being a Ubisoft open-worlder on a hybrid console may well be more of a selling point to me than the brand and universe I still have a comparatively on-and-off interest in.

Why is there no mention of the release date in the article? Fellas, this very same press release announced that the game is coming to Switch 2 on September 4th.

@Residentsteven Yeah, guess not every show is for everyone, I really like slow burn shows overall (I'm a big fan of LOST and From) but I understand not everyone will be into that.

On the topic of the game, I think the world in Jedi Fallen Order felt really well put together, levels didn't feel boring and like they had no purpose, there are many instances in open-world games where this feels like the case. It was developed at a time where things were looking grim for single-player experiences, where From Software, Nintendo and Sony's inhouse studios were pretty much the only companies interested in making big single-player games. Sony's studios have literally slowed to a stall where they released a single player game every 2 years, Nintendo had a lot of controversial releases that didn't appeal to everyone, and From Software just made one type of game.

The fact that Jedi Fallen Order released in the state that it did, from EA of all companies is a compliment in itself, and it probably clouds my judgement of the game a little bit. Sure, I'll admit it's not as great as something like the old Jedi games like Jedi Outcast and Academy, I still think there is a lot more fun to find in those games, but for me personally I would prefer an intricate Metroidvania over a Doom-like FPS anyday. Really depends on the player.

If you do enjoy sci-fi and games like the old Star Wars I'd highly recommend playing Prey, it's probably one of my favorite games of the PS4/XOne generation. Right up there with Half-Life 2 as one of my most memorable sci-fi FPS experiences.

It looks good! I don't know if I'll get it, I'm not that interested in this game, but I'm happy for those who are. And I'm happy that the Switch 2 can move well this type of games, too.
If they ever bring the Star Wars Jedi seres to the Switch 2, I'm in!
And the new Assassins Creed games as well.

I’m playing it on PS5 Pro and really enjoying it. I get some people might not like it, but the online hate campaign isn’t justified at all. It’s generally gorgeous (Tatooine and Mos Eisley especially) and I’ve had a blast playing it.

I'll be very interested to see how the Switch 2 runs this game. It's a rough experience at times on my Asus Rog X via FSR 3/Fluid Frames 2. That can run the likes of Silent Hill 2, Indiana Jones and South of Midnight pretty well. Maybe it will be locked to 30fps with DLSS and some optimisation wizardry will get it over the line. I feel like this and Cyberpunk will be a good barometer to show where Switch 2 is year one.

No matter how good the cinematic looks, this is one of the worst star wars game.

This game had lots of performance issues on initial release.
Hope it runs ok on Switch 2 and has a performance 60fps mode.

Like cyberpunk making about 30fps possibly 40fps only, I have a bad feeling that these newer modern games that need power will only get 30fps from third parties.

It’s a shame these games will possibly miss out in 60fps in Switch 2 especially when docked.

About another 1 tflop of docked power going from 3tflop to 4 tflop would have probably made the 60fps cut.

I saw all the negativity online but went for it anyway and it totally surprised me. I thought it was excellent and it totally broke from the usual Ubisoft open world formula of FC, AC etc.

I feel the game gets lots of unfair criticism just because it’s Ubisoft.

@Varkster yes but that’s the point, this isn’t a Jedi game and wasn’t supposed to be. It’s about being a smuggler weaving through various OG Star Wars characters stories.

People thinking this is another fallen order are missing the point.

@Varkster Probably trying to recoup their losses on the license and development. Or are counting on Switch users not being aware of the game's performance and reputation.

@OldGamer999 As I understand when this game runs well it's a rather dull, badly designed game, with direction decisions that just make little (if any) sense.

I'm glad this game is being reappraised at least a bit. I'm very excited to play it on Switch 2, it seems like such a love letter to Star Wars! And Hondo, too! HONDO!

@Poco_Lypso fair enough but if you’ve only seen it in videos and not played it you should give it a chance if you see it cheap. Honestly it surprised me massively!

Such a shame, the fact the NS2 will be tainted with this Ubislop. God forbid they follow it up with AC Shadows.

Anyway, decent game. Definitely worth a play if you like the Ubisoft formula and more so if you're a Star Wars fan.
