I have a Steam Deck so I was questioning whether I'd get it earlier or wait a bit. I don't need it, I have other options. But the line-up of software was impressive and the way they're handling backwards compatibility, accessories and enhancements is as good as I was hoping. Add to that the level of performance exceeding my expectations (which is saying something)

I figured I'm going to be buying it by the end of the year anyways. Especially for Prime 4 because there's no way I'm getting that on Switch now when Switch 2 is an option. So why not also enjoy the hype of launch? So I have a pre-order. Just the Mario Kart bundle, nothing else. No accessories or other games or anything, there isn't really any need for it

It's actually working out to be a fairly cheap console launch relatively speaking

As a side note, I find it amusing seeing some of the posts earlier in this thread talking about Steam Deck and ROG Ally. Because of the price, battery life and performance people talking about them as alternative options. I'm a bit perplexed by those posts because, from where I'm looking, Switch 2 clearly wins that fight. Maybe not on battery due to the slimmer design but even then only just barely and only because the battery is smaller, it consumes less than half the power! Get a battery bank and you'll be laughing

No. I won't. With how the world is right now. I don't want a $500+ console at the moment. It's a bad investment when I have an Xbox Series X and the original Switch.

I'll get it in a year or two.

What about Prime 4 & Donkey Kong Bananzas? I'll admit, I'm not a big fan of Mario Kart, with the exception of the revolutionary 1992 Super Mario Kart, during it's time that is. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe? I have it, but i find it a bit too casual and clunky for my tastes. The tracks were never accommodated with 200cc in mind, which is my preferred speed(Especially coming from F-Zero GX , so that goes straight out the window, i wish the weapon/combat system was a bit more fleshed, topped with tighter more responsive handling.

Still getting MK World with my Switch 2. I love that they've added wall jumping, being able to grind on rails and air planes into the mix and so much more. Plus the visual overhaul and character redesigns, although not earth shattering(There's only so much you can do with cartoony nintendo visuals after all. We're hitting diminishing returns with Switch 2's PS4 Pro-like docked power) look fantastic. Plus they also brought back the feather from SMK. Then there's HD Rumble 2 Support and whatever else.

The star of the show for me personally at launch will be Kirby and the Forgotten Land, running now at 60fps + 1440p. I have it on Switch, but I've only threw in maybe 20 minutes or so, so it's going to be a brand new much more enjoyable experience thanks to NS2's 60fps bump.

I was hoping Prime 4 would of been available too at launch, but alas. That's the one I'm excited for the most. S2 version has better graphics than the S1 version. 120fps @1080p, HDR, HD Rumble 2 support, Similar Gyro + analog stick aiming like in MP Remastered. Loving the Avatar-like environments and stunning music too.

Even though I'm excited for Switch 2, it doesn't look like a brand new next gen console purely based on console/joy-con and Pro controller design. When you went from NES in the late 80s, and then to the SNES back in 91, it was like entering a whole new world of gaming. Same thing applies when going from NES to Genesis, SNES to N64, or even PS1 to N64, along with N64 to Dreamcast. The unique weird brand new smaller light grey purple switched box, ergonomic controller with shoulder buttons(which had never been seen before), 4 button diamond-styled layout(Also new), even the cartridge designs were completely different including the boxes. And of course, the jump from 8 to 16 bit was above and beyond far more substantial, including it's unique 16 bit audio/sound chip. Then you factor in all of the fun whacky game changing accessories like the Multi-tap for Super Bomberman, the Super Scope and my personal favourite the Mario Paint Mouse.

Where as with Switch 2, it just feels like a sequel to Switch 1. Which was expected, bu with mostly predictable specs. The 120fps support totally caught me off guard. I was NOT expecting that, or even HDR really. Nintendo went all out, and i appreciate the dual gyro mouse support which is going to be quite the blast for a future WarioWare & Mario Paint 2 sequel, based on the weird, fun and whacky ways they can be utilized. But again, purely based on console/joy-con 2 design, pro 2 controller design(Least favourite of the bunch), the game cases & cartridges. Nothing new really, it's all very similar to Switch 1.

The near all black boring safe design, imo, is saved by the Neon orange & Blue accents underneith the analog sticks, including the side rails. It almost kind of reminds me of the Genesis aesthetically speaking/
But still a far cry away from how much character, uniqueness and just how fun and wildly different consoles & controllers looked in the 80's & 90's. Including the Indigo lunch-boxed styled GameCube from 2001 along with it's whacky yet oh so awesome controller. It's sad, but those days are over. Console and controller designs will continue to be mostly safe and boring from here on out. It's been that way since the 2010's and even before that, with the exception of the Wii U game pad(Then again, that has more to do with a controller having a screen rather than it's actual design), love it or hate it.

Worth noting there's only so much you can do in terms of interesting design and wacky controls when what you're selling is a fairly sizable screen with controllers on the side. Especially if you're, I would argue rightly, pushing for a fairly slim tablet portion with a relatively small bezel. And also maintaining a form that allows it to effectively behave like a Switch for the purposes of backwards compatibility. Not much space to be interesting

But even within that fairly narrow window they have added mouse input, which is pretty far out of left field especially as far as consoles go. They've also improved the haptics which is certainly welcome. Honestly I'm not sure what else people were wanting out of it, and I've been kinda saying this is what it was going to be for a while

Anyone think we'll be getting a battery life upgrade add-on for Switch 2 anytime soon, I think they'd probably upgrade the battery on a pro model along with a pretty Oled screen but I can't see anything mentioned for the current console.

@SViper I actually already Pre-Ordered NS2 + MKW edition yesterday at around 13:40/1:40 PM my time/EEST (East Europe Summer Time)(around 21,5+ hours ago) for 579€ from only relailer at my country (Lithuania) that specializes only to all gaming aspects! Plus regular NS2 is 529€ at that retailer while NS2 Physical Games at that same retailer are 5€ cheaper as expected like they already did & do with NS1 aka MKW is 85€, DKB 75€ and so on.

@skywake I like the idea but think I'd rather wait for an official Nintendo version.

I have to pass.

Money's tight right now. It looks like I'm going to have to get some car repair work done.

But also, the price of the console is higher than I was hoping. That and my kids aren't using the Switch as much now-a-days. And are more playing games on their PCs or phones. So I'm waiting around to see if they end up wanting the Switch 2 down the road.

One of my kids was talking about getting a Switch Lite. With how many unfinished games we got on the Switch, I think that makes a bit more sense right now.

As someone who has only owned Nintendo consoles since the GameCube, Switch 2 feels like a proper generational leap. I've only owned Nintendo consoles since the GameCube, so I've only experienced one proper generational leap in over 20 years, Wii to Wii U. And even that was not too impressive to me at the time, as HD graphics had been around for years and I used to play my mate's 360 a lot.

I haven't really been blown away by a console I've owned since the Dreamcast. I was a big arcade gamer in the 90's,.and the DC finally felt like I was playing arcade perfect games at home. Games like Soul Calibur and Shenmue blew my mind in the same way as seeing Sonic the Hedgehog for the first time did. Memorable moments that stay with you. I've never had that same feeling from graphics since the DC. Playing Mario Galaxy and BOTW for the first time gave me that special feeling,.but it was the games that wowed me, not the graphics.

I have a feeling Switch 2 is going to impress me though. Unlike the Wii U, the Switch will feel modern. Graphics won't be too far off Series S, so for me, that's almost a double generational leap. Smooth framerates, high resolution and finally, Nintendo using anti aliasing.
1st party games are going to looks so clean and silky smooth. Like an animation. Imagine what Luigi's Mansion 4 is going to look like.

I cannot wait. I'm not sure I'll manage to get one on launch day. I'm in Thailand so stock will be limited for the first few weeks. The only game shop in my city said they'll contact me to pre order , as soon as they know something. So I'm optimistic I shouldn't be waiting too long. With the original Switch , it took me 4.months to get one.

I placed my pre-order last night, held off upgrading my 2017 Switch for this and thankfully this does seem like a real upgrade. Never had too much of an issue with the battery even on a V1 model so even though I was hoping for an upgrade on that part, I think I'll manage absolutely fine.

The games are something I'll have to monitor and see what the market looks like as and when they come out. By that I mean how much of the price retailers are willing to slash!
I got the Mario Kart bundle though and that combined with several Switch 1 games that still need playing through will keep me going for a good while. So for me, I'll mostly just be using it as an upgraded Switch initially and I'm more than happy with that.

I cancelled my pre order today. Decided I didn't need to pay £430 to play Mario Kart. I'm not a huge Donkey Kong Guy and have no nostalgia or interest in Kirby Air Riders.

On the 3rd party side of things, I don't need to play inferior versions of 5 year old games. I have the Switch 1 for that.

Maybe if this was the Switch Pro that everyone wanted back in 2021, I would have spring for one but it's too much of an iteration for me to need to buy one day one. I don't do it with phones and I don't need to do it with this.

Pre-ordered yesterday. Will be getting Cyberpunk and Mario Kart. I'm not supporting key cards (much like I dont really do codes in the box or digital.) So, if third parties don't put their games on cards then it just saves me money lol. I'll be grabbing Daemon X Machina and Donkey Kong later.

I never drive faster than I can see. Besides, it's all in the reflexes.

Short answer: no. I was going to, but it already is a struggle to get a preorder in and to be honest, none of the launch titles is a "must have immediately". I mean yeah Mario Kart. But if we are really 100% totally honest, it's more of the same, just in a Forza Horizon kinda way. I will love playing it, but I don't feel the urge to do so immediately either.

And, knowing Nintendo, the online experience won't be that great in the first few months after launch anyways.

I’ll attempt to get one as soon as I can, whether it’s the My Nintendo Store or whenever I get lucky, so no dying rush at all.

If it wasn’t for Donkey Kong Bananza, I would be much less interested right now. Mario Kart World looks stunning already, but I’m a lifelong DK fan. It’s been a decade since a new Mario Kart, but also DK. It looks great and it’s coming soon, too. I wouldn’t want to avoid spoilers for too long if I can help it.

I believe I better get Switch 2 sooner rather than later anyway, because the tariff chaos won’t get any better and will probably keep getting worse. No telling what will happen this summer, let alone late this year or during the next few. There might be a recession in which Switch 2 would be the last thing we worry about affording. Not scaremongering here. I just advise my fellow Americans or anyone in my continent to get Switch 2 and be done with it if you can afford it and have any interest at all.
