@VoidofLight Weird. Well, the video is: "The COMPLETE Preview Roundup! Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition," and it's forty minutes of discussion about the various changes we've seen in the game to date. Lots of talk about little changes to certain mechanics or settings they've noticed.

It was enough to swing my opinion. I think it'll all add up to a nicer experience.

Ugh. Men.

@Ralizah Ahh. I hope it'll manage to sway me into wanting to play it. The promise of the story being complete is something that is attracting me to the game.

I've been really thinking about picking X up, but I've always been on the fence with Xenoblade over its style of combat where your character is always throwing out attacks automatically. It's probably not as big of a deal as I'm thinking, but I would appreciate knowing what's interesting about X's combat system before taking the plunge.

@PikaPhantom Basically Xenoblade as a whole plays like you'd expect an MMO to play. Arts are your abilities, and they they go on cool-down when you utilize them. Auto-attacks are there in-between your use of arts, but most of the damage will come from the arts themselves. I believe X is a bit more akin to an MMO than 1 and 2, with the game having a proper class system. There's also mech combat, but I never got far enough into the original game to know how that works.

This being said, I pre-ordered so I'm going to finally try to force myself to click with the game.

A week away from release and still no listing on AmazonNA.

Guess I'll have to place an order with Best Buy, or Target, or something.

Do I dare take a drive to my local Gamestop instead?

I'm still goofing around in Freedom Wars Remastered and have a ways to go yet (my sinner has worked off only 200,000 years of her million-year sentence so far). I'll have to decide if I jump ship and play XCX when I pick it up next Thursday. It was a treat to explore Mira on the Wii U, but the glow-up and new content has me hyped to go back and mech it up again!

@Magician
If you decide to buy at Gamestop, my suggestion would be to go now and put your $5 down on a preorder (hopefully their preorders are still open for XCX). I wouldn't drive to Gamestop on launch day expecting them to having spare copies of the game available - maybe it's just my local store, but their release-day allotments always seem few to none. There's been times when they stock the game a few days late, too. Even after having preordered, I've left that store dozens of times in the past empty-handed and muttering "Well it's not like I don't have anything else to play at home" to myself.

Welp, I bought some vouchers and preordered this.

I've accepted I'm not gonna play my Wii U copy, and this one has sorely needed improvements/new story elements/etc. Plus I own all the other Xenoblade games on Switch. Might as well complete the collection.

Ugh. Men.

Tasuki

I am going to pass on this. I never played a Xenoblade game and wouldn't know where to start, on top of that I have enough games going on right now.

@Tasuki you're really missing out. I never played the series until switch and it's easily become my 2nd favorite Nintendo franchise behind zelda. Check out XC DE If you ever get the time.

Edit: to clarify, mario is right up there with XC as my 2nd favorite, but they're so vastly different.

@Magician I think BB has the best pre-order bonus so I did them.

I haven't looked at any of the spoilers for X DE's final chapter, but some of the comments I've seen make it sound like it's something really really large and unexpected for the narrative of the game to go into. The music I've heard from the final chapter though sounds amazing. It isn't really in Sawano's style for X, but I feel like it's probably still composed by him and the other artist they brought on.

Watch XCXDE do the sky islands thing better than TotK lol

Mira has some pretty impressive cave systems too.

Anybody that has the game, please post your initial impression. I've never played X and I'm curious to see people's take on it. I've only played Xenoblade Chronicle 1 and 3. I've enjoyed part 1 and thought 3 was just OK. I love the world setting in part 1, and thought part 3 world/map/exploration was a bit bland that felt empty and void of any interaction of set pieces. The side mission in 3 is a lot better though I give you that.

Also how is the music in X compared to the rest of the series? I thought the music were great in 1 and 3. How is the performance technically in docked/hand held? I was told, this is the biggest Xenoblade game map wise so I'm curious if any sacrifice needed to be made to have it run smoothly on the Switch.

@Boized77 As far as the music goes, it’s very very different from the music in the other Xenoblade games. It’s more electronic and has several vocal tracks, it’s a bit divisive but I personally like it a lot. Maybe have a look at the soundtrack samples that Nintendo have been posting recently to get a feel for it.

Quick question for anyone else playing, is the rain at the beginning of the game louder in the left ear, or is that a problem with my headphones? Weird question, I know, but it's just something I noticed.

Taking a break, not sure when I'll be back. I'm tired.

Will be picking up my copy of XCX:DE after work today! It's been a while since I was this hyped for a release - probably since the Marvel vs. Capcom Collection last year. I should get a little time to make a protagonist and start the game late tonight, if I can stay awake! Not easy at my age. @_@;

I played about halfway through the game on Wii U, before the Switch era dawned and BOTW pulled me away. But at the time I loved it! As much as I loved the original XC on Wii, XCX with it's huge, open world to explore at your own pace, with customizable, transforming, glorious MECHAS is what I truly enjoyed. I'm still so glad that Nintendo and Monolith unearthed this game for us on Switch.
