Put in about 4hrs today and finished chapter 3. It now seems like it'll open up with some freedom mission wise. Overall I'm starting to enjoy it more. The camera Is too close up to the character though half the time when you're battling larger enemies, it's hard to see everything. Not sure if there's an option to pan out a little bit. I've scoped out the setting but haven't found anything yet.
@NintendoByNature Bruh, game tells you this at the start. Hold down the L button and use the R stick up/down to change the camera zoom. Also shown on Page 3 of the Control Guide.
Man, there is a special room in hell reserved for whoever designed chapter 5 from a gameplay perspective. 😂 Absolutely floored though by the narrative developments in this chapter though, and honestly really enjoying this story overall. I feel like with Xenoblade 3 it was probably a good forty hours before that story started to really get good, and even then I dunno if it actually all landed, but I feel like this really hits the ground running. It is sad this series is so niche, because this game has some really big ideas that I think hard scifi nerds would really enjoy.
@seinfeldfanatic I think if it’s truly bothering someone they should mention it. Yes, it’s minor and it’s been that way in other games previously. Is it still annoying nonetheless? Absolutely. You don’t have to be rude about it.
Other than purchasing The Torna DLC separately, this is my first main Xenoblade game! Absolutely loving it. Performance is amazing on handheld mode: resolution and frame rate are both exquisite. Literally the only two minor flaws I can notice with performance is pop-in as well as the small 1 or 1.5 second hesitation the game makes to load up the battle rewards screen. Other than that I'm very impressed with this game, and without a day one patch at that!
The game structure feels like everything Destiny dreamed of becoming, with a home base -> explore a vast world -> defend humanity from aliens. Really love how it feels like an MMO, especially with the promise of online coop! Hoping to jump online as soon as I can, but I'm only on Chapter 1 or 2.
The weapon classes actually remind me strongly of Mass Effect 1. Mass Effect was one of my favorite games at the time, and I love how weapon classes are divided in XenobladeX. And just like my time with Mass Effect, I'm drawn to going down the Commando / Astral Crusader class first to master those juicy sniper rifles, then backtracking to Full Metal Jaguar to wield sniper rifles and dual swords together. After I'm done with the Commando classes, I'll work my way down to the Galactic Knight class to focus on being a healer for online coop. Growing up in multiplayer games I always loved the black mage / healer / sniper classes the most.
Does anyone know of some good video guides online for early game leveling / ranking up? I'm also interested in a guide for how to prepare or handle my classes for online coop!
@Ulysses You and I share the exact same thoughts, especially with how it feels like Mass Effect 1, the MMO feel, and how everything is connected in a meaningful way. I also think it feels like Monster Hunter too, particularly with targeting weaknesses of enemies and collecting them for gear later on.
As for leveling up, there really isn’t a trick. The best tip I can give is don’t be afraid to fight enemies a couple of levels above yours. That, along with doing side quests, will net you the best experience points for leveling up.
I am excited to hear more about your journey! This is my first time playing this game. I’ve played all the other ones and love them to death, so it’s great to see other new players.
The best strategy for early game leveling is to use Irina's arts Brain Jack and Servant Sacrifice to take over an enemy and get an instant kill. This can sometimes take out very high level enemies very quickly, gaining you a lot of experience in the process, but it's a bit hit-and-miss and there aren't a lot of targets that couldn't insta-kill you if it doesn't come off. Ah well, you'll probably be dying and respawing a lot on your first run anyway.
Once you've got Skells, it's pretty easy to find high level enemies with low health that you can take out in one go just by spamming all your weapons. Insectoids are usually your best bet, and you can hit entire swarms of them with AOE weapons.
@Kraven Yeah I'm super excited about this game! Auto-attacking felt really weird for the first couple hours, but it's once I finally began unlocking all the Arts in my class that the flow to combat began to click for me; multitasking everything becomes much more engaging when I'm juggling at least 4-5 arts + Soul Voices + all the other little things. Now I'm getting addicted to grinding my class ranking and upgrading to new classes!
Just upgraded to Partisan Eagle, and I'm loving the different feel to the class, similar to Commando but sniper rifle-focused, which is my beloved. Definitely giving me those juicy Infiltrator class vibes from Mass Effect!
After seeing more flying mech videos on socials I'm getting impatient to rush more through the chapters instead of grinding ranks however! Gotta get to Chapter 5 at the least!
I have some gripes with it, but the main gripe I have that I haven't heard anyone else mention is how neutered the options are. The Wii U version had SO many options and the Switch version just.... doesn't
Aside from that and other minor things this game is basically perfect. I am hoping beyond hope that we get a sequel to X on the Switch 2!!!
I heard they took the boob slider out. Which is wild, cause this game is still crazy horny lmao Like you will put a cosmetic on a male character and its like a business suit and then you put it on a female character and for some reason it turns into like a metal razor wire bikini. I just was not ready 😂
I think the camera options are still there somewhere, because I was still able to zoom in and out and stuff. So maybe the options are hidden or changed or something.

Keep it PG-13-ish.
I wasnt even being rude about it in the first time, buddy. so back off. I was just saying that every time you would a new item etc it was always a jumbled mess since Xenoblade 1 and 3 for the Switch/Lite.

My only complaint is attack an enemy, accidentally target another enemy across the map somehow and all your allies ditch you and run off. >_>
Like, they see me target an enemy off in the distance and instantly go after it, but they can't instantly come back when I target the right enemy.
I don't remember dealing with this on the Wii U, either...it's weird, and kinda annoying. I've died multiple times because of this, and not noticing it until like, the 3rd death or something.
....OMG there's a freakin' setting that prevents you from targeting enemies not fighting you. Dunno why this was off by default, that was so annoying...lol

Wow how did I miss this?! Game changer, literally.
@Pizzamorg@Joeynator3000 Wow, I'll have to change that as well! Just another reminder for me to take a moment to pour over a game's settings page whenever I start a new game. I always do this in Monster Hunter since the options are so complex but I've forgotten to do this in other games.
